Egress confirmed that under a very specific set of circumstances when using the Egress Secure Email Client for Microsoft Outlook, it is possible that some emails that should have been sent encrypted were sent without any Egress encryption.

This does not affect any emails that are:

  • encrypted by the Egress Secure Email Gateway
  • encrypted by Egress Web Access
  • decrypted by the Egress Secure Email Gateway

This only affects a small subset of users when forwarding Egress Secure Email Client encrypted messages that had previously been saved as a draft.  In this very specific workflow, it is possible that the Secure Email Client for Microsoft Outlook will fail to encrypt the email message.

This bug has been fixed in the Egress Secure Email Client version 20.07 (currently due out Monday, 27th July 2020)

Egress advises customers to upgrade to this latest version which includes all the latest bug fixes and to stay up-to-date with our software.
