If you are struggling to keep the Egress Outlook enabled, you may be encountering the following error message when trying to tick the Egress Switch box:


We have identified the issue lies with the pre-installed Microsoft Office App.


You can determine the full error message by allowing VSTO alerts to be displayed in Outlook, to do this:

  1. Close Outlook
  2. Open 'Control Panel'
  3. Click on 'System'
  4. On the left hand side, click 'Advanced system settings'
  5. Select 'environment variables'
  6. Select 'New' and enter 'VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS' with a value of 0 (zero)
  7. Click 'OK'
  8. Re-open Outlook and try and enable the Add-in


The error message you get should be: 

Could not load file or assembly 'office, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.


How to fix this issue (Windows 10):

Your IT department or Administrator will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Open Powershell ISE as Administrator
  2. Run the following command: Get-AppxProvisionedPackage -online | %{if ($_.packagename -match "Microsoft.Office.Desktop") {$_ | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -AllUsers}}
  3. Once the command has stated it has run successfully, reboot the machine
  4. Log back onto the PC/Laptop, open Outlook and enable the add-in.
